Serendipitous I was written for Thomas Schuttenhelm and is the start of a series of works for solo instrument and electronics that focus on randomness, predictability, and feedback as foundational elements. As the guitarist plays through the work, the computer is randomly recording small sections of audio and playing them back in a variety of ways. The guitarist is then told to improvise against the texture leading down a slightly different path with each performance.
