Mr. Apollinax (4'30")

Soprano, Flute, Bassoon

Premiered: July 2018; New Music on the Point, Leicester, VT

Mr. Apollinax was written as part of New Music on the Point for the Summer of 2018. The text comes from the T.S. Eliot poem of the same name (published 1917) and sketches a picture of an uncouth character named Mr. Apollinax. Originally written for Soprano (Anna Elder), Flute (Jessie Nucho), and Bassoon (Brad Balliett), "Mr. Apollinax" was later arranged for soprano, flute, clarinet, violin, and cello; and became the final movement of the chamber song cycle 4 Instances of Eliot.
